The Bobcats continue to build their wall in the crease with signing of rookie goalie Connor Green
Wytheville, VA – The Blue Ridge Bobcats have found another wall for the crease with the signing of Rookie Goaltender Connor Green.
Green spent the last three seasons playing NCAA D-III hockey for SUNY-Potsdam as the starting goalie. During his time there he had a .891 save percentage playing in 17 games with a 3-12-0 win-loss record for the year.
Prior to his collegiate career, the 24-year-old New Port Richey, Florida native skated for the Wichita Jr. Thunder in the WSHL (2017-2018), the Springfield Express in the WSHL (2017-2018), and the Tampa Bay Juniors in the USPHL Premier (2018-2019).
The part of his game that will really catch people’s eye is his speed allowing for Green to move quickly from post to post. Forcing a moving wall in the crease that will be hard for opponents to take advantage of.
Green’s speed and athleticism also caught the eye of Bobcats Head Coach Vojtech Zemlicka.
“Connor is our latest signing, he’s coming out of SUNY-Potsdam NCAA III hockey, where he’s been starting for them the last couple of years. SUNY-Potsdam plays in the strongest division of NCAA III and Connor has done a phenomenal job for his time being there. I was surprised when Connor showed interest in coming here to play for us and it was a no-brainer to bring him on board. His speed and athleticism are where Connor excels, he gets from post to post very quickly, and that allows him to make impossible saves. I am not going to be shocked if Connor gets a call-up early in the season but until then we’re extremely happy to have him be part of the Bobcats,” Zemlicka said.
You can catch Connor Green and the rest of the Blue Ridge Bobcats for their home opener and the start of the inaugural season on Friday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. inside the Apex Center(The Den). Don't miss any of the action this season and pick up your season tickets now at https://wkf.ms/3QG3VmC.
