Coach Zemlicka finds quick leader on the ice with signing of Pro Forward Kyle Stevens
Wytheville VA – The Blue Ridge Bobcats look for a leader on and off the bench with the signing of Pro Forward Kyle Stevens.
Stevens spent last season in Elmira with the Elmira Mammoth, skating in 21 games with eight goals, 13 assists, and 21 points.
Working in Single-A minor hockey for the past five seasons with eight different teams throughout his professional hockey career. And had his best season with the Elmira Enforcers during the 2018-2019 season with a statline of 18 goals, 37 assists, and 55 points.
Prior to his time in Single-A minor hockey, the 28-year-old Hyde Park, Massachusetts native played for the Bay State Breakers in the USPHL Elite (2014-2015), the Vancouver Rangers in the WSHL (2015-2016), and the Meaford Knights in the GMHL (2016-2017). During his time with the Rangers, he earned 24 goals, 20 assists, and 44 points on the season.
On the ice Stevens works off the wings providing speed and momentum to the team. A player you can look for to get the second or third touch as you build your attacking forecheck. Those momentum and leadership abilities Stevens possesses are some of the reasons he caught head coach Vojtech Zemlicka’s eye.
“Kyle is a true leader and he’s going to take on the role here with us. He’s consistently been one of the top forwards in the league every season and also spent some time in the SPHL. He brings a lot of experience and that’s what this team that we’re building here needs, a guy like Kyle. He is a player who makes guys around him better and he shows up every night and will do anything to win. When the game comes to clutch time or when we just need some momentum on our side Kyle is definitely one of the guys who I can rely on in moments like that,” Zemicka said.
You can catch Kyle Stevens and the rest of the Blue Ridge Bobcats for their home opener and the start of the inaugural season on Friday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. inside the Apex Center(The Den). Don't miss any of the action this season and pick up your season tickets now at https://wkf.ms/3QG3VmC.
