Wytheville VA - The Blue Ridge Bobcats have signed Rookie Forward Michael Moreira to a professional tryout.

Last season, Moreira played for the University of Central Oklahoma. He skated in 20 games earning two goals for two points throughout the season.

Prior to his time with the University of Central Oklahoma Moreira spent his time during juniors with multiple different teams including the Philadelphia Hockey Club in the USPHL (2018-2019), Thief River Falls Norskies in the SIJHL (2018-2019), the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in the EHL (2018-2019), the Connecticut Chiefs in the EHL (2019-2021), The Charleston Colonials in the EHL (2020-2021).

He had his best season with the Charleston Chiefs in 26 games earning seven goals, four assists, and 11 points.

The 23-year-old, Mullica Hill NJ native, caught the eye of Bobcats Head Coach Vojtech Zemlicka through his bursts of speed and puck control on the ice.

“I had invited Michael to an FPHL free agent camp this summer, where Michael showed me that he has abilities to play at the PRO level, so we offered Michael a PTO contract. Last season he played at the ACHA level for the University of Central Oklahoma. He has a ton of speed and a lot of skill, what he seems to do a great job at is understanding when to keep it simple and when to use those skills. He’s got a great shot and I will be looking for him to shoot the puck at every opportunity he gets,” Zemlicka said.

You can catch Michael Moreira and the rest of the Blue Ridge Bobcats for their home opener and the start of the inaugural season on Friday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. inside the Apex Center. Don't miss any of the action this season and pick up your season tickets now here.
