Cats Clash with Carolina for Second Series of Season

WYTHEVILLE, VA

The Blue Ridge Bobcats, fresh off their first home and first regulation win in franchise history, are gearing up for a second home-and-home series with the Carolina Thunderbirds this weekend.

Blue Ridge put up video game numbers in their 12-5 win over the Mississippi Sea Wolves on November 11th, in what head coach Vojtech Zemlicka called the Bobcats' most complete 60-minute performance so far this season.

Josh Newberg scored the first hat trick in franchise history. Captain Kyle Stevens scored four goals of his own, and Dominik Matonak had a whopping five assists on the night. Andrei Ivanov and Fabian Granqvist got off the schneid and potted home their first goals of the season.

The Bobcats will certainly look to build off the momentum of that win, and feed off of the relentless energy they've shown for all 200 feet of the ice in recent games.

Connor Green will certainly look to continue his strong play, which he's carried forward from the last trip down I-77 two weeks ago. Former Thunderbirds Christian Pavlas will look to make the most of any opportunities he gets in net also.

Justin Daly was not yet with the Bobcats the last time the two budding rivals met, but he's sure to make an impact when they meet again this weekend. The speedy rookie forward has 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) in just two games in a Blue Ridge sweater.

The Bobcats enter the weekend in 5th in the Continental Division (1-5-1, 6pts). Carolina comes into the series holding serve at 3rd in the Continental (3-2-0, 11pts).
