Bobcats add a skilled winger to their forward group with signing of Rookie Justin Daly

by Charles Ryan

Wytheville VA - The Blue Ridge Bobcats have signed Rookie forward Justin Daly to a professional tryout.

Daly looks to be a skill man of the wings working more in the corners and outside edges to drive first touches on the Bobcats' forecheck. And working to crash the net to drive goals in for the team.

Last season, Daly spent time on the ice with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Earning one assist while skating in six games for the Pointers.

Prior to the 23-year-old Delano Minnesota native's time in university, Daly spent time in both the NAHL and NA3Hl. Skating with the Kenai River Brown Bears (2018-2020) in the NAHL and the North Iowa Bulls (2020-2021) in the NA3HL. He had his best season with the Iowa Bulls, earning 16 goals, 22 assists, and 38 points in 27 games.

Daly's physicality and skills off the wings were not the only things that Bobcats Head Coach Vojtech Zemlicka wanted to bring to the team.

"Justin has experience from NCAA hockey where he played for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and he also spent some time in the NAHL playing major junior hockey. He's another fast, skilled, and physical player we are adding to our strong competitive group of forwards. Something that sticks out about Justin is his net drive and always looking to take pucks to the net, and that's really important to me. I want my guys crashing the net and always having a net presence," Zemlicka said.

You can catch Justin Daly and the rest of the Blue Ridge Bobcats for their home opener and the start of the inaugural season on Friday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. inside the Apex Center. Don't miss any of the action this season and pick up your season tickets now here.
