BOBCATS ACQUIRE DOMINIKS MARCINKEVICS FROM MID-SOUTH, REUNITE DYNAMIC TWIN BROTHERS IN BLUE RIDGE
WYTHEVILLE, VA – The Blue Ridge Bobcats, proud members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), are excited to announce the acquisition of forward Dominiks Marcinkevics from the Mid-South Monarchs in exchange for forwards Kevin Szabad and Gerdas Paulauskas.
The blockbuster acquisition brings another proven offensive weapon to Blue Ridge while reuniting Marcinkevics with his twin brother, Bobcats forward Patriks Marcinkevics, forming one of the most exciting offensive combinations in the FPHL.
Marcinkevics, a 25-year-old native of Riga, Latvia, stands 5'9" and weighs 161 pounds. The highly skilled forward brings an impressive professional résumé to Blue Ridge, with experience across the ECHL, SPHL, and FPHL.
During the 2025-26 season with the Pee Dee IceCats, Marcinkevics established himself as one of the FPHL's most dangerous offensive players, recording 28 goals and 35 assists for 63 points in just 40 games, averaging an outstanding 1.58 points per game. His offensive production placed him among the league's premier scorers and demonstrated his ability to consistently create scoring opportunities.
Prior to his time in the FPHL, Marcinkevics enjoyed a successful professional career at the higher levels of minor league hockey. Across 44 career ECHL games with the Adirondack Thunder, Reading Royals, and Atlanta Gladiators, he registered five goals and 12 assists for 17 points.
Marcinkevics also spent significant time with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the SPHL, accumulating 30 goals and 43 assists for 73 points in 100 regular-season appearances. During the 2023-24 campaign, he recorded 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points in 42 games.
Before turning professional, Marcinkevics developed his game through the North American junior hockey ranks, including standout seasons with the New England Wolves of the EHL and Jersey Hitmen of the NCDC. During the 2021-22 season with Jersey, he produced an impressive 31 goals and 40 assists for 71 points in just 34 games.
The acquisition also marks a highly anticipated reunion between Dominiks and Patriks, who previously shared the ice with both the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs and Pee Dee IceCats. Known for their exceptional chemistry, offensive creativity, and ability to anticipate each other's movements, the Marcinkevics brothers have developed a natural connection that makes them particularly dangerous whenever they are on the ice together.
Blue Ridge Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations Vojtech Zemlicka expressed his excitement about adding another elite offensive talent to the roster and reuniting the brothers.
"Dominiks is an outstanding hockey player, and bringing a player of his caliber to Blue Ridge is something we're extremely excited about," said Zemlicka. "He's an elite offensive talent who combines tremendous speed, skill, and hockey IQ with a real ability to make things happen every time he's on the ice. What I really like about his game is how dangerous he is with the puck. He's a great skater, has excellent vision, and can both finish plays himself and create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He's the type of player who makes everyone around him better, and adding another player with that kind of offensive ability makes our lineup even more dangerous."
"Obviously, another huge part of this acquisition is being able to reunite Dominiks with his twin brother Patriks. Those two have a special chemistry that you simply can't teach. They've played together their entire lives, they understand each other's tendencies, and they know where the other is going to be before the play even develops. Both are extremely intelligent, creative hockey players who see the game at a very high level, and when they're playing together, their speed and playmaking ability can be incredibly difficult for opposing teams to defend. We've already seen what Patriks is capable of offensively, and now adding Dominiks alongside him gives us another dimension to our attack. We're extremely excited to have both brothers together here in Blue Ridge, and I think our fans are going to have a lot of fun watching them play."
The Bobcats organization would also like to thank Kevin Szabad and Gerdas Paulauskas for their contributions to the team and wish both players the best as they continue their professional hockey careers with Mid-South.
With the addition of Marcinkevics, Blue Ridge continues to strengthen its offensive firepower and reinforce its commitment to assembling a championship-caliber roster as the Bobcats pursue the FPHL Commissioner's Cup.
