BLUE RIDGE BOBCATS SET NEW ATTENDANCE RECORDS DURING HISTORIC 2025-26 SEASON
WYTHEVILLE, VA-
The Blue Ridge Bobcats, proud members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), are proud to highlight a record-breaking year at the box office during the 2025-26 season at Hitachi Energy Arena.
Fueled by the unwavering support of Roar County and hockey fans across Southwest Virginia, the Bobcats established new franchise attendance records in multiple categories during the organization’s third season.
The Bobcats welcomed a total of 55,562 fans through the gates during the 2025-26 regular season, setting a new franchise single-season attendance record. The team also posted a franchise-best average attendance of over 1,900 fans per game across 29 home dates.
Several individual games throughout the season drew capacity-level crowds, highlighted by:
November 22nd vs Port Huron Prowlers — 2,023
January 17th vs Twin City Thunderbirds — 2,888
April 11th vs Twin City Thunderbirds — 3,033
The Bobcats also ranked in the top 10 of the FPHL in attendance in both the regular season and postseason, further cementing Hitachi Energy Arena as one of the premier hockey environments in the Southeast.
“Our fans continue to raise the standard every single year,” said Director of Media Relations Brett Wiseman. “The atmosphere inside Hitachi Energy Arena this season was truly special. From Opening Night to the playoffs, our community showed why Roar County is one of the best hockey communities in minor league hockey. These attendance milestones belong to every fan, sponsor, and community partner who supported us throughout the season.”
The record-setting attendance numbers coincided with the most successful season in franchise history on the ice, as the Bobcats continued to establish themselves as a rising force within the FPHL. The season featured numerous marquee events and accomplishments, including new single-season franchise records in points, overall wins and a record 10 game winning streak that saw the club stay in the win column from early March through mid-April, energizing legions of fans throughout the region.
The team became the first in professional hockey to enter a single-game partnership with St Jude Children's Research Hospital in January, raising nearly $30,000 for childhood cancer research as part of the St Jude Showdown game held on January 17th.
Since arriving in Southwest Virginia, the Bobcats organization has emphasized creating an affordable, family-friendly entertainment experience while building strong connections throughout the community. The continued growth in attendance reflects the expanding passion for professional hockey in the region.
“This community has embraced Bobcats hockey from day one,” said Head Coach/General Manager Vojtech Zemlicka. “Our players feed off the energy in this building every night. The support from our fans gives us a true home-ice advantage, and we cannot thank them enough.”
